I'm super excited to launch our new hack night concept and I couldn't wait to invite all of you!
This night is a first in a series of four (two before Christmas & two after) where we'll be hacking on stuff together. Have that app idea you never realized, been wanting to try out some cool APIs or want to contribute back to the Open Source community? This is the perfect time!
At the final hack night, you'll have the opportunity to show off your hack and even win some prizes! Categories will include "Best Hack", "Greatest Open Source Contribution", "Best Use of API" and more.
You decide what to hack on, but to get you inspired, we're starting this night off with two presentations and an optional workshop.
Arielle is a Developer Advocate Engineer at Spotify, working to make the Spotify Developer Platform engaging and easy to use. In this talk, we'll explore the capabilities of the Spotify API through creative hacks that integrate everything from artist metadata to track "danceability" to detailed, beat-by-beat audio analysis. During the evening, you'll also be able to dive into the API with our first Spotify-integrated App in a hands-on, interactive workshop.
Getting into the Open Source-community can be daunting, especially for new developers. In this talk, you'll learn how to get started contributing with issues, pull requests, learn some etiquette and get tips on things to consider when releasing your own project into the wild. Speaker TBD.
