Presentations aren’t everyone’s favourite thing. Whether it’s at work, online, or passionately discussing a novel’s cover art at your local book club, presenting can be anything from exhilarating to terrifying. This interactive session explores how presentations can go wrong - even when the topic itself should be interesting.

We’ll start with a demonstration presentation on Scottish history - a topic dear to the hearts of some (presumably, I didn’t check).  After watching, attendees will get the chance to feedback on the presentation and have an open discussion about where it could be improved.

Through discussion, we’ll unpack the key ingredients of great presenting including content, delivery, and understanding your audience.  The aim is to help participants avoid the most common pitfalls in their own presentations and identify useful strategies for improvement, such as using AI tools, to improve their clarity, engagement, and authenticity.

We’ll then wrap up with an open chat where everyone can swap tips, horror stories, and hard-earned wisdom about presenting well.  By the end, you’ll hopefully have a clearer idea of what makes presentations work, what doesn’t, and what techniques you can use to stand out for all the right reasons.
