Title: Enhancing road safety: how connected vehicle data can keep road users safe

Ride long enough and you are going to have an accident.  This is a common trope amongst motorcyclists, and speaks to the inherent risk associated with motorcycling.  Motoring in all its forms, is, and always will, be carried out with some risk; such is the nature of all physical systems.  But our jobs as engineers in the roads and transportation sector is to reduce this risk to its minimum.  This talk explores how novel datasets gathered from connected vehicles can act as a vital tool for reducing the risk of motoring.

Speakers:

Johan Petersson has several years’ of NIRA experience across different products, customer projects, and roles.
Since few years back, he works as a Product Manager for NIRA’s cloud-based products providing real-time data on road conditions.

Dr. Peter Sanders works as a Product Analyst at NIRA. He has a solid 15 years’ expertise of road surface characteristics and also works with the cloud-based products focusing on friction and roughness data of the roads.
